DC Skate shoes have been running an interesting comp over the last few months to find the King. The King Of Series !
The king of series first started in New York in 2006 and offered a Jam style comp in certain locations across the city. The comp then expanded as people started to enjoy the close action of the urban skate series. 2008 saw kings crowned in LA and Brazils Sao Paulo. This year the event started in Dublin.
The 2009 season then moved onto Vancouver in Canada and finishes in Chicargo with Kings crowned in each countries perspective series. A great event and a popular concept. Continuing with the Hardcloud skateboarding theme this morning, I have been looking over and reviewing tweaker magazine. There are a lot of ezines appearing out there at the moment for almost all the extreme sports. I have seen them for surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, FMX and they all offer slightly different styles of reader and approach to articles and interviews etc.
Tweaker zine is a UK skateboarding magazine that focuses on UK riders and companies and general news from around our shores. Check out the brand below.
The magazine is well laid out and what tweakerzine does that is slightly different from other ezines is it treats each article as a separate story in its own right. You can scroll between articles/features and then look through the pages of just this feature before moving onto the next subject matter.
The biggest advantage of this is you get quick load times and I have never been waiting for new content to load if I am quick flicking the pages. This is a common problem with some of the older style readers.
Excellent articles and excellent content on the UK skateboarding scene.. Well worth checking out.

One of the UK’s most well know and well respect professional skate boarders returned to his old stomping grounds to see some hardcore Rowley fans.
Rowley returned to the UK and visited Portsmouth’s Southsea Skatepark in September 2009. The Vans footwear and Volcom clothing rider moves to the states many years ago to master his art and also give him a larger opportunity to turn professional and earn an income from the sport he loves.
Rowley has even featured in Tony Hawks – Skateboarding game releases for playstation and xbox 360.

I have been reading a great deal recently about a number of key action sports participants who all call the UK home are under 20 but are dominating in their sports across the planet.
This first post looks at UK Number 1 pro wakeboarder Nick Davies. With posts to follow on riders like kiteboarder Arron Hadlow, Surfer Tom Lowe and skateboarder Geoff Rowley (is perhaps a little older….but you get the drift) plus others in BMX, FMX the list goes on.

Nick Davies at only 19 has been hailed as the best cable wakeboarder on the planet. Nick like the other professionals mentioned above appears not only to be good but has a natural talent for the sport. The ‘at one’ feeling with his equipment….. Does this come from riding at an early age, 100% dedication & hard work or genetics. Perhaps its a bit of all of these.
Having learnt the tricks of the trade at JB waterski and Princes in the uk. Nick is now fully sponsored (oneill wetsuits) has his own signature board and is probably one of the first UK riders to have his own signature board in a US dominated market/field. Nick spends most of his life travelling around the globe promoting wakeboarding and entering events, and if you win the money is pretty good too.
It is so refreshing to think that in a seriously competitive world, our tiny island is still producing some amazing sporting talents….. Nick Davies has not only shown he is good but proved it by winning the cable worlds this year and has his set sites on what he can achieve on the boat circuit too.

The Relentless Boardmasters is upon us – the event started yesterday, with the weather for the spectators looking perfect. However the swell forecasts do not look too positive. Only time will tell! Last years event saw some of the best swell the event has seen. With so many stormy conditions in the run up to the event. Fingers are crossed as its always good for any event especially an ASP one like this to get a result.
Very late on in the preceedings announced only a couple of days ago – Animal Clothing the UK’s largest actionsports/freesports brand has signed up to sponsor the event. It is always great to see home bread brands supporting these great UK festivals which we appear to put on quite well for a little island.
Animal clothing have signed up to be official time keeper for the ASP WQS event, whilst it’s Animal Relentless Bike tour will be on site to show off their skills. The event is growing every year.
