DC Skate shoes have been running an interesting comp over the last few months to find the King. The King Of Series !
The king of series first started in New York in 2006 and offered a Jam style comp in certain locations across the city. The comp then expanded as people started to enjoy the close action of the urban skate series. 2008 saw kings crowned in LA and Brazils Sao Paulo. This year the event started in Dublin.
The 2009 season then moved onto Vancouver in Canada and finishes in Chicargo with Kings crowned in each countries perspective series. A great event and a popular concept. One of the UK’s most well know and well respect professional skate boarders returned to his old stomping grounds to see some hardcore Rowley fans.
Rowley returned to the UK and visited Portsmouth’s Southsea Skatepark in September 2009. The Vans footwear and Volcom clothing rider moves to the states many years ago to master his art and also give him a larger opportunity to turn professional and earn an income from the sport he loves.
Rowley has even featured in Tony Hawks – Skateboarding game releases for playstation and xbox 360.

Good morning apolgies for the delay in this latest post. We have been manic here at Hardcloud. With all the new stock arriving for fall. The Animal Clothing, Hurley, WESC, Volcom, DC shoes & plenty more has been restocking our warehouse for those cooler evenings in August and September.
So I am gutted told all my mates to get tickets for the Red Bull Xfighters 2009 in Battersea London, they did and I forget to get one. Now they are all sold out. So looks like I am watching it on www.freecaster.tv. Online. Enjoy this little sneak preview of what to expect in London this Saturday evening.

This years xfighters has been a hotly contested series as it always is. With a few controversal results along the way. The top 4 can still all win the event, last years winner Rebeaud has a lot to do and I have to say the consitent Ego Sato and DC shoe co rider Robbie Maddison have been flying. Can Nate Adams nail this years season. Personally I have to say I would like to see a none American win the event – I am going for the underdog. Ego Sato.

The Relentless Boardmasters is upon us – the event started yesterday, with the weather for the spectators looking perfect. However the swell forecasts do not look too positive. Only time will tell! Last years event saw some of the best swell the event has seen. With so many stormy conditions in the run up to the event. Fingers are crossed as its always good for any event especially an ASP one like this to get a result.
Very late on in the preceedings announced only a couple of days ago – Animal Clothing the UK’s largest actionsports/freesports brand has signed up to sponsor the event. It is always great to see home bread brands supporting these great UK festivals which we appear to put on quite well for a little island.
Animal clothing have signed up to be official time keeper for the ASP WQS event, whilst it’s Animal Relentless Bike tour will be on site to show off their skills. The event is growing every year. If you can’t make the next couple of days tickets are still available for the weekend and the evening entertainment over on the cliff at watergate bay.

Hurley’s new strapline Microphone for Youth – follows a similar stance to that of Volcom’s – Youth against establishment – Today’s youth love skating, surfing and music lifestyle even if they dont participate the masses are interested and inspired by the ability of a youth pro surfer or skater.
Hurley now one of the largest surf brands on the planet is making serious waves in the run up to the its ASP event in 4 weeks time.

With so much undercurrent surrounding the potential new surfing tour-based on a model of – its our tour we own the rights. Can the world of surfing deny and wash their hands with the current model of surf brand rights ownership. Hurley is flexing its muscles at present despite the recession and the Kelly Slater tour headed stories. By annoucing a prize pot of $100k for the first time in Surfing history. A PR stunt for the Huntington Beach event or a wake up call to the top 45. Surfing is the brands and they help support the best surfers in the world create a stage that allows big prize pots due to the draw of huge crowds. This is a professional sport and professionals need to get paid.
Multi millionaire Slater can push back against the big brands and get heard – but the well paid pro’s need to be careful not to bite the hand that feeds them. Watch this space I think, Hurley. Volcom and Quiksilver will all use there voices when the crunch comes!

The Relentless NASS & Wakestock Music and action sports festivals have now come to a close for 2009.
Early reports are that they were great events despite the weather, good work to all for turning out. If you werent at NASS a skateboard and bmx orientated event, you may well have been up at the Relentless Wakestock event at Abersoch in Wales – where I hear the weather was even worse. (Tents flying around everywhere). The music and party atmosphere pulled everyone through and its only rain. Wakestock also celebrated its 10th birthday this year so congratulations to all involved with organising the event over the years, for turning it into a great rave in north Wales.
If you couldn’t make it to Nass below is a little snippit of pro skater Christian Heise and his flatland freestyle skateboard routine from this year.
